The Aliens are here and they are from France!

I do not think that cloning is a really good idea. But it is really a very cute one. The Raelian cult in France that claims that they have cloned a human seems to have a misled concept of this whole humanity thing. I am ambivalent to this whole cloning issue because on some aspects it would be beneficial, and in others unbeneficial to the general populace.

The way the Raelian cult is going about it seems like they have watched the movie The 6th Day one too many times. If the technology of transferring ones intellect and experiences from brain to brain existed, then there would be no need to sit and learn at an educational institution anymore. It would be like the scene in The Matrix where you would plug in and a few seconds later say, "I know Kung-Fu." So the thought of living eternally from cloned body to cloned body while transferring your "soul" seems rather implausible but not improbable if that technology existed.

George Lucas has prophesized this day was coming. The idea of cloning has been out there since the time of Hitler and his perfect blonde, blue-eyed army. Now it is time to look out for the French Clone Army of the Republic only it is going to take place on earth rather than Coruscant. Maybe there would also be the rise of an emperor, say like Napoleon Bonaparte. And this whole Star Wars plot would be played out in this strange reality.

The last thing we need in this world, with a population of over six billion, is a whole bunch of French Alien Clones running around. Being cloned so that one could live forever would hold a place for these people in this world, well, eternally. You would be able to see your children grow, your grandchildren, your great-grandchildren and so on. Then everyone else's children's children will have children and clone themselves then we have one serious overpopulation problem, as well as a heightened epidemic of incest. You could date your great-great-great-great grand cousin since the generations are well removed and you are forever 19. And finally, when the resources get low, would the clones be the first to be "put down" and let the original humanity carry on? Interesting decision, no?

Cloning should be considered for research and organ harvesting though. I would rather have a cloned human heart than a pig's heart if there weren't any "real" human hearts available. Science is trying to breed genetically engineered pigs whose organs would be available for human recipients in need of an organ transplant. Then when you look at the side of bacon on your plate would you consider it cannibalism since you are now 1/18th pig? So in some aspects having a cloned cask of a human made would be beneficial for transplant patients. But that is an issue to be wrestled with in the near future.

The existence of clones would usher in a new classification of the human species. Homo sapiens would have a branch come off of the current line saying Homo clonius or againus or repetitious. So would the question "Are you classified as human?" be asked or would that be covered under the Privacy Act? With this classification, would clones be considered a minority despite ethnic differences? We do not know yet and would have to wait and see.

What is cute about this whole issue is that it ties in with you humans and your creator. What I have observed with humans is that when they are small children they aspire to be like their parents. Sons put their daddy's shoes on and walk around like their father. Daughters try to put on make-up like their mothers. And sometimes it is the other way around. Humans are also taught religion, where in the Judeo-Christian sect, they try to be like their "father". Protestants try to be like their Heavenly Brother and Ultra-Lord Jesus whose Father is God. Humans of this religion try to be giving, forgiving, and sometimes stern when they need to be. The phrase "What Would Jesus Do?" comes to mind. So humanity has reached the next step in trying to be like their ethereal daddy, and that is to try and create life. First it was with plants, then with sheep, and now with Humans. And that is the only reason why humans are trying to play God; it is because they want to be like their Father.

Finally, at this moment, cloning seems to be a thing for the rich and insane. Like those who can afford being a "meat Popsicle" through cryogenics, cloning would be for the ones willing to pay the price or think that they can live forever in some sort of diluted logic. I am insane, but I am Eye M. and am eternal anyway; that is why I am not really concerned. I am also not concerned because the politics of the world would shut it down. But this does not stop people from trying. Just watch out for the French Alien Clone Army of the Republic being led by Napoleon, then we would really have to worry about the French. If they do appear, I hope they bring the franc back instead of that Euro deal.
